Pearl Stitch
The “pearl” stitch is a decorative stitching that takes on the appearance of small bead stitches. It is directly inspired by the world of haute couture: the thread appears and disappears in the fabric, to give rhythm to the stitching. Elegant and delicate, the “pearl” stitch represents a technical challenge when applied to the leather of the dashboard, seats or door panels.
The master upholsterers of the DS Automobiles workshops have designed a custom machine to reproduce this point on an industrial scale. Its technical validation, including friction and abrasion tests, required more than four years of work for the Brand’s teams and their technical partners. Appeared for the first time in 2014, the “pearl” stitch has since become DS Automobiles own “couture” and a new signature in the automotive world.
